Why build Dareful Self ?
I once heard the advice to build the thing you wished existed. I’ve been using personal frameworks for self-exploration for years. Recently I started using AI as a companion on the exploration journey. At best, I had to keep prompting/training my models to be personalized and custom. At worst, I was concerned by the stories I’d hear about AI models offering harmful responses. I decided to put my years of technical design and self-exploration experience to the test and create a tool that could be both customized and safer. The result of this journey is a personalized, supportive AI companion with robust safety guardrails.

Safety is our foundation.
Every aspect of our app is built with a safety-first architecture. We use AI models with foundational guardrails for safe and ethical use, then we added additional safety measures for your AI-enabled interactions to be supportive while respecting boundaries. Your personal information is encrypted and your information is not used to train the AI models. And we NEVER sell your information.
Since it’s possible to get too much of a good thing, we’ve also built in healthy usage limits to prevent overconsumption.

Our free trial is actually FREE. We don’t ask for a payment method until you choose to subscribe.
No outrageous claims that it will solve all your problems. Dareful Self is a personal growth and exploration TOOL that supports you in the work you choose to do.
We don’t buy-in to misleading metrics. App stores reward things like number of downloads over customers actually benefiting from the app, so we’re not engaging in that method of marketing.
We don’t sell your information to anyone else. Period.
Why not just use the general AI options?
Every exploration in Dareful Self references your personal frameworks. Responses are individualized to you and your journey, every time.
Access to past conversations, dream analyses, and tarot readings in easy to view lists let’s you explore patterns over time.
Our responses are drawn from established LLMs (large language models) trained on personality frameworks instead of generic internet searches. This means more relevant and reliable interactions.
We’re not controlled by investors or shareholders, so we can prioritize safety over profits. This doesn’t mean we’ll be 100% perfect with every release. But it does mean we will never knowingly ship incomplete or unsafe features.
